New Look is married duo Adam Pavao and Sarah Ruba.

here Free download EP, How's My Hair.

New Look is a Brooklyn duo making funked out electronic pop music.

New Look, How's My Hair? (The Music Lobby)
They're affiliated with the rising Normrex Collective which includes Machine Drum, Jimmy Edgar, and Letherette, though in the delay to get the Normrex label off the ground have released their debut EP for free on their website.
Imagine Jimmy Edgar producing Hot Chip and you may begin to have an idea what New Look sound like. Sarah Ruba's voice creates an immediate connection and creates substance from music that at first has a very tacky, clubby vibe.
There's something compelling about the deeper emotion of Sarah's voice and lyrics being inserted into a synth-heavy 80s dance music format. I think if these guys can get a proper release out there they can really resonate with both the club and the indie scene and get very popular.
When you see them on Pitchfork in a year you can feel comfortable you heard about them here first.

Matthew Stephen Ward, known by his stage name M. Ward, is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who rose to prominence in the Portland, Oregon music scene. In the summer of 2006, Ward relocated to New Hampshire and in the fall of 2007 subsequently returned to Portland. Regarding the types of music he grew up listening to, Ward said: "My dad turned me onto Johnny Cash. He was always into gospel and country. My mom listened to classical music."

M. Ward: Hold Time by James Skinner

“'Cause I just roll and I tumble / down the long road I stumble..." – ‘Epistemology’

On his sixth solo album, M. Ward turns in a star-studded set that feels at once a logical progression from 2006’s Post-War and a step closer to that all-out classic his preceding suggests; an assimilation and appropriation of American blues, gospel, country and folk as lovingly, winningly relayed as we’ve come to expect from the Portland-based troubadour. A quick appraisal of his career thus far reveals a success slow-burning and richly deserved, more so: the jubilant intimation that from the shoestring-budget, rough-hewn Duet for Guitars #2 to the technicolour splendour of his latest efforts, Ward’s hallmarks have both been evidenced – and flourished magnificently – throughout.

Wikipedia The Eraser
The title track, "The Eraser" was co-written with Radiohead member Jonny Greenwood, and is based on piano chords (namely C6 and D6). Yorke revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone, that the piano parts played by Greenwood were recorded on a dictaphone at his house; "A year and a half later, I had to own up that I had sampled them, cut them into a different order and made them into a song [laughs]. Is that all right? Sorry, Jonny."

"Analyse" was inspired by a blackout Yorke experienced in Oxford. Yorke used to live on a "historical street" with 1860s built houses in central Oxford and upon arriving home one night, the street suffered a power cut. Yorke explained; "The houses were all dark, with candlelight in the windows, which is obviously how it would have been when they were built. It was beautiful."

"Black Swan" dates back to the Kid A sessions, which "has this tiny, shredded segment of something", a sample created in 2000 by Ed and Phil, which Yorke "sliced [...] into bits."

Yorke stated that "And It Rained All Night" has an "enormously shredded-up element of "The Gloaming" [from Hail to the Thief]", which Yorke recalled creating in New York because he couldn't sleep one night as a result of heavy rainfall. Yorke commented on the bassline of the song that it created "little pockets of excitement that [he'd] missed for so long."

"Cymbal Rush" is derived from "Try to Save Your Prize", a musical track from The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth Of All Time. Yorke reported that "Cymbal Rush" contained an element he had for three years, one little note from which he could "hear the melody in there straightaway." However, he said that "if you played it to anyone else without [him] singing it, you'd think, 'What's he on about?'"

Thom Yorke said much of his songwriting on the album was personal, but also inspired by the issue of climate change. Yorke was a spokesman for Friends of the Earth's "The Big Ask" campaign to reduce carbon emissions, and Radiohead played the first gig of their 2006 tour at a benefit for the group (performing "Cymbal Rush" before the album was announced).

In describing his motivation for releasing the album, Yorke said, "I've been in the band since we left school and never dared do anything on my own, and it was like, 'This is getting stupid.' It was like, 'Man, I've got to find out what it feels like,' you know? And it was good. It was a really good time."

Regarding "Harrowdown Hill", Yorke said he had "already written part of it when he realized it was about David Kelly, a chemical-weapons inspector in Iraq who committed suicide in 2003 after being connected to a leak of British intelligence about weapons of mass destruction."
In an interview with The Observer, Yorke said that "Harrowdown Hill" was "the most angry song [he'd] ever written in [his] life" and stated that he wouldn't discuss the background of it; "it's not for me or for any of us to dig any of this up. So it's a bit of an uncomfortable thing."
In an interview with The Globe and Mail, Yorke said that he had been "feeling really uncomfortable about that song lately" but felt that "not to write it would perhaps have been worse."
Yorke also notes that "'Harrowdown Hill' was kicking around during 'Hail to the Thief', but there was no way that was going to work with the band."

The album's cover, a linocut by Stanley Donwood, depicts a figure in black hat and trenchcoat standing in imitation of King Canute, trying and failing to command the ocean.

Around him are iconic London buildings that have been swept away by the Thames, including the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament and the Thames Barrier.

Donwood included this picture and other images seen in The Eraser booklet in his art exhibition London Views, prior to the album's release. The images were inspired by a large flood Donwood and Yorke both witnessed in Cornwall in 2004.

The CD packaging of The Eraser is made of cardboard but unlike a digipak, it does not contain any plastic. Yorke said this was for environmental reasons; he also said in an interview that he did not have his CDs certified as carbon neutral as he did not believe carbon offsets were a constructive solution to climate issues

Big Ben
Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north-eastern end of the Palace of Westminster in London.

The SIS Building, also commonly known as the MI6 Building, is the headquarters of the British Secret Intelligence Service (otherwise known as "MI6").
It is located at 85, Albert Embankment in the south western part of central London, on the bank of the River Thames beside Vauxhall Bridge.

Battersea Power Station is a now unused coal-fired power station located on the south bank of the River Thames, near Battersea in London.

Rafael Anton Irisarri
Originally released on the Miasmah label in 2007. Seattle-based multi-instrumentalist Rafael Anton Irisarri is the latest in a growing number of electronic musicians returning to that hallowed of instruments -- the piano. It has become something of a cliché now for the electronic musician to turn to the humble keys in the hope of adding something organic into the mix, but it would be frivolous to pass Daydreaming off in such a manner. Rather than an electronic album with elements of piano, Daydreaming sounds like a record written for piano which somehow manages to utilize current technology in its production. As the drifting synthesizers lap around the feet of a majestic piano part in the album's opening track "Waking Expression," it is startlingly clear that there is more to Irisarri than mere stereotyping. Rather, this is a carefully-constructed soundtrack to your most intriguing dreams, the dreams you might remember for a split second before losing everything, only to have images creep up on you some time later. Those of you left spellbound by Deaf Center's haunting and beautiful Pale Ravine album will be pleased to know that Daydreaming continues in the tradition of murky, theatrical and deeply imaginative music quite wonderfully. Even Lynch is hinted at again with the album's clear highlight "Lumberton" (possibly a reference to Blue Velvet's troubled small-town) and as the emotive piano shimmers around radio static and lightly picked guitar, it is impossible not to get drawn into the shattered American dream. This is rich, visual music showing a dark, melancholic side to American life and captured perfectly by an artist unafraid to bear his soul to the world. Uncluttered and subtly realized, Daydreaming is maybe best summed up as it draws to a close with a gaseous ambience, drawing you in for the last time before the inevitable repeat play. Pure, uninterrupted bliss.

Hopes And Past Desires
"Rafael Anton Irisarri's music is a dual perspective close-up focus on the micro textures of rustling static-filled sonic surfaces with the wide-open, distant tree-lined horizons of sunset at dusk. Submerged piano melodies, reverberating guitar tonalities and electronic punctuation all contribute as the converging elements, but it's his hand at electro-acoustic composition that offers the listener the often breathtaking vantage into this sonic world. The combined effect is one of time passing in introspection, remembrances of landscapes and the nature of our relationship with things past as we move toward those yet to come. Plaintively yearning, his music never resigns itself to the stoicism of the melancholic, but is asking, moving, and drawing us into a state of hearing, seeing and recognizing the scale, scope and richness of the natural world and ourselves in the everyday. This music draws as much on modern genre progenitors like Brian Eno, Robin Guthrie and My Bloody Valentine as it does from the more historic traditions in neo-classicism from Erik Satie and Olivier Messiaen. It's this intersection of sounds, both traditional and modernly avant, that make for the balancing act that can be described as something beyond just 'ambient' or 'cinematic' in his music; it brings the listener to a state somewhere between emotionally entranced and psychologically adrift."

Joe Purdy: Last Clock On The Wall (2009)
Arkansas songwriter Joe Purdy has been putting out albums at a dizzying pace. In six years he's penned ten albums of original material, with six of those seeing daylight in the last two years. While his songs have appeared on a number of hit TV shows such as "Lost," "Grey's Anatomy," and "House, M.D.," Purdy opts to release his music independently rather than deal with record companies who would most likely try to impede his torrid pace. Purdy's latest album Last Clock On The Wall was recorded in a castle in Strathaven, Scotland, and most of the songs on the album were written on-site in the span of a week. You have to love the immediacy of the modern digital age. The very day Purdy completed recording and mixing the album, it was made available for download on his website. From the album cover down to the live-on-tape production aesthetic, Last Clock On The Wall has a decidedly old-timey feel. With harmonica, slide guitar, and banjo more prevalent than ever and the welcomed addition of violin, Last Clock proves to be Purdy's folksiest effort. The album opens with "Let Me Sing To You," a banjo-laden track that invokes images of a bearded troubadour in overalls plucking away on the porch of some weathered cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Folk fans will find much to love here, and if you like what you hear, I'd recommend delving into Purdy's extensive discography. If you purchase Last Clock ON The Wall directly from Purdy's website, you'll also receive two bonus tracks. -- Capt. Obvious

Purdy's "Can't Get It Right Today" is currently featured on commercial advertisements for the Kia Spectra. The song is also used in many baseball games when the visiting makes a call to the bullpen.

21st Century Breakdown
21st Century Breakdown is the upcoming eighth studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day.

( Wikipedia 21st Century Breakdown)
This album follows 2004's critically acclaimed American Idiot.
Regarding the pressure, Billie Joe Armstrong said, "We could take a sideways step or go back to our roots.
We chose to move forward. It's about reflecting what's been happening the past three years and putting it to melody with some bold statements."
The band has also stated that "This album is more.. religious," and it is influenced by Queen, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and The Clash.
Green Day had been working on the album since 2006, but the band showed no signs of a new album until a video of the band recording in studio was posted on YouTube in October 2008.

Responding on his personal blog, artist Sixten spoke about his design for 21st Century Breakdown's artwork. "I actually don't know who they are... they [the couple] were just friends of a friend at a party in Eskilstuna, Sweden, sometime in uh... 2000? Something like that. I wasn't even there." Instead, the artist explained, a mutual friend snapped a picture of the pair kissing, which then inspired Sixten. "I love their passion, and just had to make a stencil out of it to spread the love," he explained with images of the original picture and his stencil. "I've painted it a bit here and there on my travels over the years...I have so many memories connected to this image and it really means a lot to me. Glad it inspired someone."
